Andrea by Sadek Piano Baby 23/108

Vintage Andrea by Sadek Bisque Piano Baby Girl Figurine.  She is laying on her stomach and is wearing a yellow dress with a blue sash and bow, holding a red rattle in her hands.  She measures 10 inches long and 6 inches tall.  Very good condition with no cracks, brakes or chips.  Shows some wear on her legs.  Made in Japan and imported for distribution in the United States.  Andrea by Sadek Import Co. was founded in 1936 and is currently operated by Sadek family members.  

Note:  During the last two decades of the Victorian era, most well-decorated homes had a shawl on the piano.  Bisque figurines of babies were designed to keep the shawl in place, as well as a decorative accent.  Piano babies came in a variety of poses; crawling, sitting, lying on their backs playing with their toes.  They would keep you company while you practiced your piano lesson.  They were manufactured by numerous companies well into the 20th Century.

Piano Babies are still of interest and sought after by many collectors.
